Athabasca Municipal Inspection Completed
It's now a waiting game as residents of the Town of Athabasca await the findings of the municipal inspection report.

For several months, inspectors from Stategic Steps Inc. have been observing council meetings, reviewing minutes and policies as well as holding meetings with various stakeholders.

Council has learned that the inspection has been completed, and the report currently sits on the Municipal Affairs Minister Shaye Anderson's desk.

As it stands, Municipal Affairs officials are reviewing the report to determine what steps they need to take, if any, based on the report.

There is no timeline on when this review will happen, but the Minister has to accept the report and its recommendations, before it can be presented to council and the public.

When directed by the Ministry, representatives from Strategic Steps will return to a council meeting to present their report.

Interim CAO Doug Topinka told councillors they're working on getting that review process expedited.

Back in 2013, a municipal corporate review was undertaken for the Town of Athabasca.
